In the high position, it functions as a normal riving knife which is fitted with a blade cover and the anti-kickback pawls. The low position lets you make non-through cuts. The knife can be locked in either a high or low position. The Delta saw has an adjustable knife which serves as both a true riving knife and as the base for the blade cover and kickback pawls. No longer is there an exposed sheet-metal marker which can get knocked off and lost.
The marker indicator for the bevel angle is located on the front of the saw behind a covered clock-type scale and is accurate to within 1/4 of a degree. The operation is smooth, and the bevel gauge is clearly visibile in front. No longer is the bevel adjusting wheel on the side as is the case with both Powermatic and SawStop.
